My work has been featured in the Associated Press News, the West Virginia Press Association, the U.S. I’m proficient in Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, news writing and video editing. I’ve created photo stories, news broadcast videos and packages, recorded and published audio interviews and have had my work published on many different news platforms. I was in charge of finding news story ideas, creating budgets twice a week for my staff, organizing and conducting weekly meetings and covering breaking news events.Īt WVU, I’ve taken courses in news writing, video editing, coding, data collection and advanced photography. ![]() I also collected audio for an episode of the Charleston Gazette-Mail’s weekly news podcast Mountain State Morning and have been featured on WVU’s media college podcast Reed Talk, where I spoke about my coverage of the Black Lives Matter protest in Morgantown.Īs news editor at The Daily Athenaeum, I led a staff of seven reporters, taught them how to improve their writing, edited their articles and also reported myself. Some of my favorite stories I wrote were about a new neonatal abstinence syndrome hospital opening in Charleston, the opening of a new rehabilitation center for women, a family who escaped a tornado’s destruction and a surprise wedding. When I worked as a staff writer at the Charleston Gazette-Mail during the summer of 2019, I was writing at least five stories a week, driving to different parts of the state to conduct interviews and working with other staff writers to produce important stories. Throughout the state, I have conducted interviews with many business owners, entrepreneurs and everyday people who have impacted the community in incredible ways. My interests include storytelling through writing, photography and video. ![]() ![]() I’ve also worked as a digital storytelling intern for the WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design and as a graduate assistant for WVU Research. I’m the former news editor for WVU’s independent student newspaper The Daily Athenaeum and have worked at the Charleston Gazette-Mail and The Dominion Post as a reporter.
